School Board - Membership
The Board currently comprises eight members, including the school principal, four school community representatives, two staff members and an elected community member.
School community members are appointed for a period of two years and bring to the Board a variety of skills that provide additional expertise and input to the school’s operations.
I am a mother of two gorgeous kids – a daughter in Year 6 and a son in Year 2. My husband and I have lived in Scarborough for the past 15 years and are both heavily involved in Surf Life Saving. Our family are all members at Scarborough Surf Life Saving Club, with husband Chris the Board Captain and head coach, while I am the Education Director at the club. We are both patrol captains, trainers, assessors, officials, competitors and coaches, and I sit on two volunteer committees for SLSWA. I also won the National Trainer of the Year award for SLSA for 2015.
Professionally my background is in operational management, strategic development and project management, with a strong emphasis on HR. My biggest passion however, is my children, and ensuring their safe and well-rounded upbringing. Wembley Downs Primary School has a lovely community feel to it and I look forward to sharing my energy and experience with my fellow Board members to ensure successful outcomes for our children and our community.
I am the father of Sienna and Marley in years 6 and 4 respectively. I also have older children from a previous marriage. After a lengthy career in education, having held senior Principal level positions in both primary and secondary settings for 14 years as well as serving as President of a Principals’ Professional Association, I took early retirement in 2010. I now work with a leadership company undertaking a range of leadership development programs. My current assignment takes me to the Phillipines for one week every month to work with a major Phillipines bank.
I think Wembley Downs Primary School is a wonderful school with a rich depth in its community. I feel ready to give time back to an education system that offered me so much and hope my position on the School Board helps guide the school to be the best school it can be.
My family first experienced the wonderful community of Wembley Downs Primary School when our daughter entered Kindy in 2015. Our son started Kindy at WDPS in 2018.
For the past 20 years I have worked as a teacher and lecturer in both secondary and tertiary institutions, specialising in literacy, languages and creative arts. I am currently working in Academic Support in a local secondary school.
